Wildfires In LA

Is anyone watching this?

This is crazy.

I’ve seen some of it. Every year California gets ravaged by wildfires. This year it’s worse because it’s hitting a major city.

It gets worse every year. Hope the ones affected can get back to normal at some point.

At times like this my heart goes out to all the people affected by this. Tragedy is never good.

Very sad. Feel for the people affected.

It’s very sad.

Makes me wonder if there is something malicious going on when these get set. When we were in conflict with the Japanese around Pearl Harbor, there was a Japanese warfighter pilot who came to America to try to set a forest on fire as a form of unconventional warfare.

I’d imagine state actors who don’t like us would try to same but I believe they’ve concluded it was sparked during a New Year’s party.

It’s sad. When I was a kid, we had a fire in the house and we lost everything. But as bad as that was, no one lost their life.

I’ve thought that too. The Germans during WW2 before we became involved parked a U-Boat in Lake Michigan ready to strike. It went undetected for months. It had to return when supplies ran low.

Wildfires are common in my country as well but never in this magnitude. There is an interesting theory that the fire was caused by ChatGPT. Has anyone heard of it?

That’s a new theory. How did AI start the fire? Did it become self aware like in the Terminator?

Another things with fire.

Sometimes the best way top fight fire is with fire.

I used to be an assistant fire chief at one time. We went through some wildland fire training. That’s mainly wild and forest land fires.

The best way to mitigate fires is to create some before wildfire season and burn off undergrowth and old dead trees to prevent them from catching fire during a wildland fire.

Native Americans did it for years. Settlers stopped them and then realized they were doing it right.

That would be something if it is in fact true.

That’s true. It’s quite sad that it happens every year. I hope that they manage to find a solution to their wild fires soon.
